Najjuuko Resty “Kalisizo” – Kalisizo’s mother died of HIV/AIDS and her father, who is also infected, is an alcoholic who spends his time drinking in bars. After working for free as a maid she began living on the streets of Kampala, begging by day and prostituting by night. Kalisizo was rescued by Father Mugagga Lule and sent to St. Elizabeth Girls Academy. After rehabilitation, she was trained to be a tailor and received a sewing machine from friends of Father Mugagga. Kalisizo is now self employed, living in St. Balikuddembe.

Nassonko Kirabo Annet – was an orphan who lost her father at an early age. She was raised in poverty in a slum called Ndeeba. She was forced to leave school because her family couldn’t afford to send her to school; attending school is considered a privilege in Uganda, unlike the United States where education is free to all children. She sought help at St. Elizabeth Girls Academy, dreaming of a better life for herself. She received counseling and was placed in a catering course. Annet passed her final exams in May 2009 and is now working as a waitress and caterer at Best Hotel Busega.

Ategeka Margaret “Maggie” – Maggie is an orphan whose parents died of HIV/AIDS when she was still young. She had no other resources or family members so she was led into a life of prostitution. She was rescued to St. Elizabeth Girls Academy by a visiting bishop who was touring her parish. After receiving counseling and learning catering at St. Elizabeth Girls Academy, Maggie is now self sufficient, working in housekeeping at a resort in Lake Country.

Namazzi Milly – Milly’s father died when she was a little girl. She and her siblings were abandoned by their mother when she remarried. A priest found her begging and she was rescued to St. Elizabeth Girls Academy. Milly enrolled in the Home Economics class and completed the course in 2005. She is now working as a chef at Divine Village Lubaga.
